CGI build, animation, tracking, lighting & render of 'thought balloons' for a series of ‘Enrolling to Vote’ TVC's
I also attended a 2 day on set shoot for technical QC & Image based lighting capture using a Nikon D810 & 8-15mm F3.5 fisheye lens. Animated using C4DR19 & rendered with Thea for C4D 'Presto" GPU/CPU renderer.
(Post-production editing & compositing by Mark McKenna @ Sparkl)
Really enjoyed working on this lovely simple treatment for Benetas Aged Care facility. Created in conjunction with Evergreen in Richmond, Melbourne, & Doug Molino whom supplied the artwork for me to animate.
I used Cinema 4D R16 Maxwell Render. Post completed with AeCC2015.
CGI vehicle & surrounding location build & setup, lighting & render for Mazda TVC (First shot in TVC)
(Post-production editing, VFX & grading by Chris Reynolds of RETROBOX)
Initially, this commission was for a 'simple' show closer revamp for the new NBC Papua New Guinea Government station. It quickly evolved to become a whole Station ID & then a News opener. I had to incorporate aspects that were relevant to local populations re- colour, motion, the Kundu drum, cultural traditions etc. These manifested in the signature use of the 'paint pigment' effects at the end as a dynamic transition device, where the traditional use of paint splatters & daubs becomes transformed to the modern slick 3D colours of the new logo seen through glass. Old meets new.
Finally, there was a request to incorporate the various PNG provinces (as flags in the bg)- it is always 'interesting' from a design aspect to try & please everyone ; )
I used C4D R16, AeCC for post & VrayforC4D in various passes for the 3D animation. The paint splatter effects were stock film clips mapped to camera planes from C4D & used as mattes in AeCC

Fluid Simulation & CGI environment for Feast Watson TVC. Fluid simulation using 'Real Flow for C4D'. Animated in C4D R19 & rendered using Thea for C4D. Created with HBT Agency Melbourne.
After 5 years of waiting, the good people of Melbourne get their wheel back.
I created this TVC/cinema Ad. for HBT agency, & it was an extremely enjoyable process. I worked from conceptual animatics to create dozens of possible camera angles, motion tests & sky/lighting combinations for the client in order to get a balance of scale, speed & 'magic hour'.
A basic CAD file of the revised design was supplied but 70-80% was rebuilt or components added for detail accuracy. Setup, lighting, camera projection, animation & rendering were done in Cinema 4D R14 & VrayforC4D 1.2.6.1. Final compositing & fx in After Effects CS6.
Lighting was generated by image based lighting techniques (LDR & HDR) & physical sun for key light.
Live action captured on RED @4K by Cinematographer & Director Jon Webb
City bg plates were captured by Jeff Yates- jeffreyyates.com with additional fx animation created in AE to make the plates 'alive' with atmospherics & activity.
The main sky bg plates are from Hyperfocal Design- hyperfocaldesign.com
As per earlier work for Asko, this 3D animation was created for Trout- Creative Thinking. Supplied the basic CAD file, I then modified, textured, lit, animated & rendered the sequences. The resulting cgi files were passed to Trout for incorporation of motion-graphic design elements. Cinema 4D R14, VrayforC4D 1.2.6.1 & After effects CS6 were used to create the various components.
Another example using CGI for replacing or adding a missing element. In this case a pack redesign retiring insertion into a pre-existing bg plate for Cabot's Aquadeck.
Created using Cinema 4D for plate tracking & pack modelling. VrayforC4D use for rendering & AeCC for compositing.
Below- I designed & animated this 6 second info-graphic for Cabot's Decking Oil using C4D, VrayforC4D, After Effects & some macro images I took with my OMD E-M5 lens/camera. The opening section was originally more fluid & slower however client requested a 50% speed-up as seen here due to screen time constraints.
Full TVC below.
BSP is the Bank of South Pacific. My client wanted to bring mobile phones to life, representing different people from Papua New Guinea & what they needed from a mobile banking service.
I created the animation based upon concepts provided; & constructed & animated the tvc in Cinema 4D. Rendering was in VrayforC4D. Some models were from Turbosquid whilst the rest were built by me. Composited in After Effects.
Doritos Online TVC entry
Created by Dir. Cameron Hird of BFilms for a Doritos online TVC competition.
I used C4D, VrayforC4D to create 3D chips, matte paintings etc & & After Effects for compositing.
2nd TVC-
'A leaf's worst nightmare'
Lotsafun creating this 3D leaf animation; with scene tracking, lighting, rendering in Cinema 4D & VrayforC4D. Composited in AE.

3rd TVC-
Promotion for the National Museum in Canberra, Australia for the 'Canning Stock Route' - Yiwarra Kuju
I was responsible for 3D scene tracking, 3D image placement & turbulence mattes/deformation in C4D, AE rotoscoping, vfx & compositing.
The beautiful artwork was created especially for the project.

CAC Gas & Instrumentation
Mo-graphic title designed & animated for CAC GAS & Instrumentation company.
Concept takes place inside a gas cylinder as molecules of gas-as-text float about; chemical elements break apart & contribute to text descriptors of the company & its services. Periodic table serves as a visual device to display products.
I gave this a somewhat retro feel, with sketched outlines & textured paper backdrop to contrast with the 'high-tech'
message
'60 Minutes' Story 'Explainer'
I was commissioned to create an animated sequence illustrating the final minutes of a jet crash into the ocean off Norfolk Island. Whilst complete photo-accuracy was not possible in the time, I set out to make it as 'realistic' as possible; kind of 'docu-accurate' perhaps.
The sequences were created using Cinema 4D & the native AR for rendering. Compositing & particles in
After Effects. Jet model from the 3DStudio- the3dstudio.com

iSelect TVC's
Here are 2 TVC's I animated & composited utilising Cinema 4D, VrayforC4D, & the awesome 'Sketch & Toon' shader from Maxon.
Techniques include camera mapping, vfx comping in After Effects etc.
